About Dr. Frank Tridico
Frank Tridico attained a PhD in Sociology with a minor in Criminal Justice from Wayne State University. He holds an MA in Race and Ethnic Relations, an HBA in Criminology and Sociology, and a BA in Psychology from the University of Windsor.
Dr. Tridico has taught for Laurentian University, Cambrian College, for the School of Criminal Justice at Lake Superior State University, for the Department of Sociology and the Criminal Justice Program at Western Michigan University and Wayne State University.
Over the past 20 years, he has taught 160 courses including Social Theory; Methods of Data Collection; Statistics; Senior Research; Social Problems; Criminology; Explanations of Crime; Prison, Probation and Parole; Policing; Introduction to Criminal Justice; Long Range Planning in Criminal Justice; Homeland Security and Emergency Services; Approaches to the Study of Terrrorism; Comparative and International Criminal Justice Systems; Criminal Justice Process; Substantive Criminal Law, to directed studies in areas of Collective Behavior, Crime and Deviance, Victimology, and Constitutional Law, to supervising student internships with various posts of the Michigan State Police and facilities of the Michigan Department of Corrections.
Dr. Tridico helped design one of the earliest university courses on Hate Crimes in the United States, amalgamating primary field research with hate crime legislation, criminal cases and statistical analysis. He has served as a course developer for Cambrian College's Crime Analytics Program. He has served as informal counsel to attorneys, law enforcement and journalists with information pertaining to hate crimes, far right groups and legal issues.
Dr. Tridico serves as Research Director for Ballistic Armor Research Group, LLC. His experience involves research and written reports on cases involving crime scene investigation (firearms and ballistics), force protection (armor technologies), interpretation of police action during shootings, policy and procedure, use of force investigation, critical incident management, crisis intervention, emergency management, and security assessment. He has served as principal expert witness to provide third party analysis specific to crime scene investigation and police jurisdictional protocol.
He is the author of nine books and publications, including The Social Construction of Reality (2003); How Sociologists Do Research (2003) with Richard Fancy; Contemporary Issues in Law and Society (2004); Law and Social Order (2009); Hate Crimes (2015); Futures: Long Range Planning in Criminal Justice (2016); and Issues in Social Justice, Second Edition (2018) with Joseph M. Pellerito and Darrick Brake.
His upcoming projects include Global Terrorism (2021); Law and Society Order, Second Edition (2021); and co-authoring and co-editing Critical Issues in Policing (2022) with Charles Crawford and Aaron Westrick.
